Online Digital Portfolio

Please submit work samples from any of the following categories. The number of projects presented in your portfolio should not be more than 10 and no less than 6. If a work is a series, please note this and present the work as a series and not as individual pieces in your portfolio.

You can submit your work as a download link (Dropbox or Google Drive) or as a website (URL). If you submit a website, the website should be designed specifically for your application! There you can add a link to your general website, if you want to provide more information or works.


Still Images

  • If your submission is entirely still images, you must submit 15-20 images
  • Still images must be either JPEG or TIFF files, maximum dimensions of 1920 x 1440 and no larger than 3MB file size.
  • Images must be correctly rotated for viewing.
  • Each file must be named with the applicant’s Lastname_Firstname_xx.ext

Documentation of Still Image work should include:

  • A thumbnail with an image of the work captioned with title, medium, date, dimensions
  • A brief description of the artwork
  • A technical description of the artwork if applicable

Time-based work

  • For time-based and Interactive work, submit 6-10 work samples total
  • Time based work needs to be accessible online (Vimeo, YouTube or other host).
  • For time-based work, give us a cue point; otherwise only the first three minutes will be viewed. A maximum of 15 minutes of video per application will be viewed.
  • Each file must be named with the applicant’s Lastname_Firstname_xx.ext
  • You can add up to three images per video

Documentation of time-based work should include:

  • A representative still of each track should be in the PDF documentation captioned with the title of the work, and the length and cue point of segments to be viewed.
  • Brief project and technical description (e.g., is this an excerpt or the entire work, is it documenting a work or is the video an artwork in itself, etc.)

Interactive work or other computer-based work

  • For time-based and Interactive work, submit 6-10 work samples total
  • You can upload work to Vimeo, YouTube or another hosting service. A maximum of 15 minutes of video per application will be viewed.
  • Each file must be named with the applicant’s Lastname_Firstname_xx.ext
  • An URL for the artwork, if appropriate

Documentation of Interactive work should include:

  • A thumbnail with an image of the work captioned with title, medium, date
  • Brief project and technical description. In your technical description please explain what technologies you used in your project and why, and list your technical specs.

Other Application Materials

Transcripts
Official transcripts from each degree-granting institution attended are emailed or mailed to CCNY Admissions as per the instructions on the CCNY application system.

Letters of Recommendation
Two to three letters of recommendation should be submitted. The letters should discuss the quality of the creative work, potential and other related aspects. These should be from former instructors or creative professionals who know your work. Letters should be written on letterhead and with the recommender’s signature. Recommendation letters are submitted by the recommender through the CCNY online system.
