Please join us on Thursday April 27th at Noon for an artist talk by Olaf Breuning.
The talk will be held in the DIAP MFA Studio room 408, Shepard Hall.
Olaf Breuning is an artist living in New York and showing with Metro Pictures. His work incorporates discerning humor to conflate the tropes of so-called high and low artistic practices. He is internationally recognized for his playful drawings and large public sculptures, as well as his film trilogy Home. In 2016, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf organized a retrospective of his work. Breuning has had additional one-person exhibitions at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Chisenhale Gallery, London; Kunstverein Freiburg, Germany; Kunsthall Stavanger, Norway; and the Paul Klee Museum, Bern. Public exhibitions of his work include the Public Art Fund commission Clouds (2014), Doris C. Freedman Plaza, Central Park, New York, as well as the Public Art Fund exhibition Lightness of Being (2013), City Hall Park, New York. He participated in the 2008 Whitney Biennial and has also been has been featured in group exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Pompidou Center, Paris; Haus der Kunst, Munich; Kunsthalle Zürich; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Jeu de Paume, Paris; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; Whitechapel Gallery, London; and the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo.
